V K PRABHAKARAN

He was born in 1957 in Chompala, Kozhikode district. His father was North Kalandi Krishnan. Mother: Janaki. Educated at BEMUP School, Chombala, Sainik School, Kazhakoottam, Thiruvananthapuram, Madappally Govt. Fisheries Technical High School and Madappally Govt. College. The play won the 1999 Abu Dhabi Shakti Award. He was jailed for more than two years on charges of assaulting a Kayanna police station during an emergency. He worked as a parallel college teacher, freelance journalist and weaver. Worked in the Revenue Department since 1984. Retired from the post of Village Officer. He also writes articles, poems and regular columns in periodicals. Works: Arangu, Varavilli, Irayum Irapidiyanum, Khadikaradhisha, Rathriyile avasana yathrakaran, Ettet Malayalan(drama collection), Kazhukanmarude Akhasham( historical novel), Fidel Castro- viplavangalude saphalyam(biography) co-authored with P K Nanu, Adiyantharavastha ninavil varumbol (memoirs). Awards: Abu Dhabi Shakti Award (for his collection of plays Irayum Irapidiyanum) 2018 Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Ettet Malayalan. Wife: Adv.
