He was born in 1937 at Koorad in Vandoor panchayat of Malappuram district. Passed SSLC from VMC Government High School, Vandoor and joined Farooq College. He holds a BA from the University of Delhi and a BL from the Maharaja's Law College, Ernakulam. In 1968, he became a lawyer at Manjeri Bar. MLA from 1982 to 2001. Minister of Public Works in 1987. Chief Whip of the Government in 1996. He was elected to Parliament from Manjeri constituency in 2004 and was an MP for five years. Chintha has published his autobiography Njan Engane Communistay.
