പി വൈ ബാലന്‍

Born on March 3, 1956 in Pulluvila, a coastal village in Thiruvananthapuram district. Father: John Mother: Pushpalila. Leo Thirteenth HSS up to Class VII and then a two year theological student at St. Vincent Seminary (Thiruvananthapuram St. Joseph HSS; Eighth and Ninth). After stoping his studies at the Minor Seminary, he joined the Poovar Government HSS and passed Class X. Pre-degree from Kattakada Christian College. Spent two years in ITI, Chakka. Later he worked as an operator trainee in Alappuzha Premier Morarji Chemicals Limited. He quit that job halfway and became active in social work among fishermen (LC fishing). Working with the Program for Community Organization Center. At the age of 26, he joined the University Evening College in 1981 for a BA in Malayalam. At the time, he was doing for a part-time job at Coastal Magazine. He later quit that job and moved to University Day College for second year. Back to the Program for Community Organization at 1985. Kazhuthayum Vishudharum, Idam valam are his collections of poetry. He has translated the poems in Indian Literature, a publication of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi.
